This past week my mom and I travelled to New York City to apply at the Greek consulate for my student visa. Lucky for us, we left just in time to avoid Irene. She hit pretty hard only a few days after we left the city.
In order to do the trip as quickly and inexpensively as possible, we took the MegaBus. It's a service that you can pay as little as $1.00 for (although, we weren't so lucky!) and ride a double decker bus through the night to New York City. We left at 1am Wednesday morning to head to the big apple, and got back on the bus to head back to Buffalo at 10pm.
It was a long, sort of exhausting day, but we were successful in applying for my visa! My mom and I were really nervous walking into the consulate, but she did such a great job getting all the paperwork together for my application, everything went perfectly!
Here I am outside the consulate.... note the gated door...yikes!
After finishing at the consulate we walked down the block and had gyros at Nectar, a Greek restaurant! How perfect!
Getting this hurdle out of the way makes the whole semester feel more real! It made me all the more excited to head to Athens.
Thanks, Mom for a great day and for all your hard work. :)
Now it begins!
I remember the day my mom and I went into Chicago to apply for my Italian visa! So stressful, but then it was done! And it looks amazing in your passport. I'll be thinking of you!
